Itās the week after the Emmerdale limo lake disaster, which resulted in multiple deaths and destruction. But the drama is far from over.
Tragedy struck after a party limo ploughed into a frozen lake and ended up claiming the lives of three beloved locals. It also led to the chilling realisation that thereās a killer in the Dales after Nateās body was seen in the depths of the icy waters.
While it might sadly be the end for Suzy, Leyla and Amy, other gripping storylines are just getting started. And there are seven massive questions that we need answers to.
1. When will Nateās body be found?
We now know the body in the lake was Nate Robinson, which goes a long way to explain his hurried exit last September.
Nate was last seen having a conversation with John Sugden ā more on him later ā before he supposedly left for Shetland and told his family not to contact him. But fans knew that wasnāt in Nateās nature and have long suspected he met some kind of unfortunate fate.
When Amy fell through the ice that night, she saw a hand wearing one of Frankieās friendship bracelets. Although the rest of the corpse was wrapped in plastic and chains, Amy recognised it was Nate.
She managed to whisper the words āNateā and āunderwaterā to Matty while on her deathbed, but right now heās too caught up in grief to remember.
Poor Amy is no more and Nate remains in his watery grave. But for how much longer? Once the lake thaws, thereās every chance his body will resurface. Will Matty suddenly recall what Amy told him and inform the police? Or is Nate going to be left there another six months? We shudder at the thought.
2. Is John Sugden really a killer?
Thereās a murderer on the loose in the village, and John Sugden is top of our suspect list. In fact, itās got to the point where we actually want him to be the killer.
Emmerdale has already hinted John has a dark side with the Aidan Moore mystery and his general creepy behaviour. And letās not forget how willing he was to dispose of Anthony Foxās dead body, choosing somewhere it wouldnāt be found.
Has John had previous experience of this? Was he the hooded figure who returned to the lake to check Nate was still under water?
What weāre struggling with is a clear motive. There was no apparent beef between John and Nate, so does this mean heās a ruthless assassin who kills on impulse? And is he going to strike again?
3. Who is next on Joe Tateās hit list?
Joe Tate has a lot of blood on his hands. If it wasnāt for him drugging Noah, Charity wouldnāt have crashed the limo and Suzy, Leyla and Amy would still be here.
Viewers know Joe is seriously ill and speculation is rife that heās been trying to harvest Noahās organs. Noah is still trying to piece together what happened to him, but has a hazy memory of being in a private hospital ā and Joe was there too!
A fresh theory has suggested Joe might be forced to target another blood relation after finding out Noah isnāt a viable donor. And the obvious choice would be his Uncle Caleb.
One of the flashforwards at New Year showed Caleb flatlining on a hospital bed. Does he die as a result of going under the knife for Joe?
4. Can Moira forgive Cainās betrayal?
It wasnāt just Moiraās heart that broke when Cain confessed to sleeping with Ruby ā ours did too.
Caleb appears to have forgiven Ruby (although with him, you never quite know), but Moira just canāt get past the betrayal. Next week, Cain gets his marching orders from Butlers as Moira tells him their marriage is over, and they have to break the news to Kyle and Isaac.
While weāre in full support of Moira kicking Cain out and agree this is the worst thing heās ever done to her, the thought of no more Coira is unbearable.
Theyāre one of Emmerdaleās most iconic and adored couples and we love the little family theyāve created together. But is this one mess Cain wonāt be able to fix? Are he and Moira finished for good?
5. Were Suzy and Mary having a secret affair?
Maryās been acting very strangely in the wake of Suzyās death and all evidence is pointing towards them having a secret affair behind Vanessaās back.
Suzy definitely had a lot on her mind that last day. Remember when Vanessa declared her love and she struggled to say it back? Or that tender kiss Mary blew Suzyās way just before she climbed into the limo? Had she finally secured the affections of the woman sheād been in love with for ages?
Next week, Maryās guilt starts to overwhelm her as she comforts a distressed Vanessa. A flashback will reveal the truth about whatās eating away at the chef. Is Vanessa headed for further heartbreak?
6. Will David and Alicia return for Leylaās funeral?
Leyla will be laid to rest soon and weāre wondering if any familiar faces will come back for the funeral. Namely, David and Alicia.
David and Leyla had a long history together. The former lovers remained good friends, and David is the man Jacob calls dad. David cut ties with Jacob after discovering his romance with Victoria. But it would be selfish and harsh if he couldnāt forget the past and show up for his son.
Actor Matthew Wolfenden, who played David for 17 years, hasnāt ruled out a return. So maybe, just maybe.
We would also expect to see Alicia at her sisterās send-off. The character left the Dales a decade ago, but has remained in contact with Jacob. He needs her support now more than ever and weād love to have Alicia back on our screens. Will it happen?
7. Is Chas going to get her happy ever after with Liam?
Amongst all the heartache and sadness, Chas and Liam are offering us a glimmer of light.
Tragedy almost tore the lovebirds apart after they were caught up in the limo crash. Liam suffered a bleed to the brain and Chas feared she was going to lose the man whoād asked her to marry him only minutes earlier.
Although sheād originally planned to say no, Liam nearly dying made Chas realise how precious life is. She proposed to him at his hospital bedside and Liam accepted.
If the wedding goes ahead this will be Chasās fourth (five, if you count her jilting Carl King) trip down the aisle and Liamās third. But after all the tragedy heās endured and her lousy track record with men, weāre really hoping Liam and Chas are for keeps.
