‘Virgin River’ Season 6 Will Put Preacher’s New Relationship ‘Under a Lot of Pressure’

Wes’ body has been found and identified
Preacher cannot catch a break on Virgin River. The man has been involved in serious controversy after serious controversy since the first season, and that won’t be changing in Season 6.

The Virgin River holiday episodes, which debuted on Netflix on Nov. 30, gave Preacher (Colin Lawrence) a little happiness as he confessed to Kaia (Kandyse McClure) that he loved her. The two new lovebirds were blissed out after the confession and Kaia took the job as Virgin River’s fire chief. But their euphoria was short-lived because Preacher received a call at the end of the episodes confirming that the body Kaia’s crew found at the end of Season 5 Part 1 had been identified as Wes (Steve Bacic).

Wes, of course, was Paige’s (Lexa Doig) abusive ex-husband. Preacher buried his body after Paige killed him in self-defense. The sins of Preacher’s past will now become the obstacle to his happy future as an investigation into Wes’ murder begins.

“Preacher is dealing with a lot in Season 6,” Virgin River executive producer Patrick Sean Smith teased to The Messenger. “His relationship with Kaia is put under a lot of pressure.”

Smith would not reveal whether Preacher’s “I love you,” to Kaia would mean he was ready to confess his crimes. She’s already involved in the case because it was her fire rescue team that found the body, but can these two have a future if Preacher is keeping such a big secret from her? Will she want to stay once she knows the truth?
The Virgin River boss wants fans to tune in for those answers, but he did leave us with a good reminder. “The thing that I love about his character is his strength and his integrity. So I think that will be on display in Season 6 while he’s dealing with such formidable circumstances,” Smith revealed.

We can only hope that Preacher can finally put the Wes drama behind him and get his happily ever after.
