Dev confronted Kit over his treatment of Bernie in tonight’s (July 5) episode of Coronation Street.

Earlier in the week,  and told Gemma and Paul that he was their brother. The twins were furious that their mum could keep such a secret from them.

In tonight’s episode, the twins continued to be short with their mum. When bumped into them in the street, they told her they were buying flowers for Kit’s mum’s funeral.

Bernie offered the twins some money towards the flowers, but they instantly declined the offer.

Later, during a conversation with Dev, Bernie expressed her sadness at her children leaving her out in the cold.

“They’re acting like a couple of stroppy teenagers,” Dev told Bernie, before advising her to send her own flowers.

“Nice bunch of lilies, nicely worded card, come on, he’s going to have to have a heart of stone to not appreciate that. And where that Kit leads, the other two – they will follow,” he said.

Bernie took the advice, but later in the pub,  thanked the twins for their flowers while ignoring Bernie.When pushed by Dev over whether he received any other flowers, Kit admitted he had.

“The least you could do is say thank you,” Dev said, to which an unmoved Kit replied: “But I’m not thankful.”

Not willing to let it go, Dev went on to tell Kit that he was “a rude one”.

“Today was supposed to be about my mum, my proper mum, the woman who raised me, so the last thing I needed was some flowers from the woman who gave me away,” Kit argued.

Dev responded that Bernie was just trying to be kind, but Kit insisted that Bernie was trying to make the day about herself.

Gemma and Paul told their mum to leave, but once again Dev came to Bernie’s defence. Squaring up to Kit, he told him: “Look, I don’t know what you’re trying to do – ruin her life, turn her kids against her – but I will not let you do that. You got it?”

Will this threat be enough to stop Kit punishing Bernie?
