Emmerdale aired a twist in the storyline involving Marlon Dingle and Laurel Thomas following the disappearance of his daughter April Windsor.
The ITV soap began a new mystery plot over the festive period as April mysteriously vanished from the Dales, with the character last being seen in a strange car.
This came after a fraught period in her relationship with her father Marlon, who began Wednesday’s (January 1) New Year’s Day by confiding in Rhona that he felt guilt over the whole incident.
The family liaison officer subsequently arrived with information regarding the case, sharing that they had been monitoring April’s activity on social media, confirming that they had discovered a private profile in which she had uploaded videos.
The material showed April sharing her discontent regarding her family life, with Marlon getting emotional as he watched a clip in which the teenager drunkenly spoke to the camera. A furious Marlon subsequently left the room, distraught at the turn of events.
He later spoke privately with the officer, who shared with him that April had uploaded videos in which she suspected that he was having an affair with Laurel. He quickly denied the allegation, but looked rather sheepish as he pleaded his innocence.

The officer referenced that April had seen a particularly incriminating message between the pair, though Marlon didn’t seem to know anything. He implored the officer to not tell Rhona about the developments, and she agreed – at least for the time being.
As a discombobulated Marlon began to spiral, he contacted Laurel to meet. After confirming that the texts had been seen by the police, Laurel remarked that she could now “lose everything” – what exactly are the former couple hiding?
